New Ben NanoNote firmware

2010-04-10 15:42
A new firmware image for the Ben NanoNote has been released. This image also includes the Gmu music player and comes with gmenu2x preinstalled, which is launched at boot instead of a shell.

Probably the easiest way to update the firmware is to use the reflash_ben.sh shell script.

Make sure to also read the Official Software Image wiki page which has a change log.

Your blog finally sent me in the right direction to get started with my NN, after a bit up messing around I’ve reflashed the thing but now I want to get back to the command line either before gmenu2x starts or by quitting gmenu2x anybody have any ideas?

Andrew: You should be able to switch to another virtual terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1/F2.
Another option is to add a command for exiting gmenu2x. To do so, edit its configuration file /usr/share/gmenu2x/sections/settings/exit.
Just set the exit command (which is empty by default) to some command, e.g. “clear”. Next time gmenu2x is started a red exit button should appear.
